Due to potential release of hazardous substances that could present an imminent or substantial endangerment to the public health or environment, Boeing implemented the removal of lead shot and clay target debris in shallow soil from the former shooting range on property just north of Santa Susana Field Laboratory (SSFL).
Dust control measures per the Ventura County Air Pollution Control District (APCD),
Rule 55 for Fugitive Dust, and South Coast Air Quality Management District, Rule 1466, for control of particulate emissions from soils with toxic air contaminants, and under the supervision of the Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC). Multiple air monitoring stations were placed upwind and downwind of the work areas, at the perimeters, and ground level.
